Canadian Agricultural Partnership

The Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) is a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative to strengthen the agriculture, agri-food, and agri-based products sector and increase its competitiveness, prosperity and sustainability.


OSCIA is delivering CAP cost-share funding programs to producers and associated other agri-business operations.

Applications will be accepted until May 8, 2018

Lake Erie Agriculture Demonstrating Sustainability

LEADS supports the implementation of best management practices (BMPs) on farms within the Lake Erie and Lake St Clair watersheds. Cost-share levels are determined by the risks identified through the completion of a Farmland Health Check-Up


Is your farm eligible? 


  • Do you have a Farm Business Registration Number (FBRN) and Premises Identification (PID) number?
  • Do you have an Environmental Farm Plan?
  • Do you have a Farmland Health Check-up? (All check-ups completed in previous years are eligible) 
  • Are you in the Priority Area? (All of Brant County is in the Priority area) 

BadgerWay Program

The BadgerWay Program aims to provide long-term protection for important American badger habitat on Ontario farmland, and is piloting the use of Conservation Agreements. Before funding can be released, approved BadgerWay applicants are required to sign a Conservation Agreement with Environment and Climate Change Canada. In the Agreement, participants commit to maintain the funded BMPs for a period of 5 years and to monitor the projects for the length of the agreement.

Grassland Stewardship Program

Supporting activities to improve grassland habitat and benefit grassland birds at risk. 

Supported BMPs

  1. Control of Encroaching Trees and Shrubs through Mowing
  2. Grassland Restoration
  3. Incorporating Delayed Grazing into Rotational Grazing Systems
  4. Forage Harvest Management (Delayed Haying)

GRCA Rural Water Quality Program

Farmers can recive grants that will help them undertake projects to protect water quality on the farm. Grants range from 30-100% of the cost of selected Best Management Projects (stream fencing, tree planting, manure storage etc.) 

An Environmental Farm Plan is required


GreenON Agriculture

GreenON Agriculture is a new program from the Green Ontario Fund, a non-profit provincial agency mandated to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) from buildings and the production of goods. GreenON Agriculture is a merit-based cost-share program that specifically aims to support Ontario farm businesses in adopting cleaner technologies and reducing their carbon footprint.


Who is eligible?

The GreenON Agricultural Program supports Ontario farm businesses producing agricultural commodities in permanent, climate-controlled buildings (e.g. swine or poultry barns, greenhouses) or using grain dryers.
